Mango Cream Tart Recipe
Golden pastry, sweet cream, and sun-ripened fruit have a way of making ordinary afternoons feel memorable. This Mango Cream Tart is one of those simple yet beautiful desserts that feels elegant without requiring hours in the kitchen. With buttery puff pastry, a lightly sweet vanilla yogurt cream, fresh mango slices, and a glossy layer of mango preserves, this tart comes together with surprisingly little effort.
At Moonprint Academy we love exploring food not only as nourishment but as culture and experience. Fruit pastries have long been enjoyed across Europe and beyond, from French patisserie fruit tarts to rustic countryside galettes and tea-time pastries shared among family and friends. This tart reminds me of that same feeling, something cozy and beautiful that invites people to gather around the table.
The best part?
You do not need to be a professional baker to make it.
This recipe is approachable, forgiving, and perfect for warm weather baking.

We Love This Tart
Light and refreshing – Beautiful enough for guests or celebrations
Uses simple ingredients- Puff pastry saves time
Creamy and fruity without being overly heavy
Wonderful with tea or coffee
The mango preserves create a glossy finish that helps protect the fruit from drying while adding another layer of tropical sweetness.

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 ripe fresh mango, thinly sliced
2–3 tablespoons mango preserves
Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Vanilla Yogurt Cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional if yogurt is already strongly flavored)
1/3 cup powdered sugar, (optional if yogurt is not sweet enough)
Kitchen Tools
You do not need much equipment for this recipe.
Baking pan / Pie dish
Parchment paper / Oil Spray
Sharp knife or a Mango pit remover and peeler tool
Pastry brush or spoon for preserves

How to Make Mango Cream Tart
Step 1: Prepare the Puff Pastry
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Line a baking pan with parchment paper or spray a pie dish with oil and gently unfold the puff pastry.
Place it onto the prepared pan / dish.
Using a knife, lightly score a border about ½ inch from the edge, being careful not to cut all the way through. This helps create that lovely raised edge once baked.
You may gently prick the center with a fork to reduce excessive puffing.
Step 2: Make the Vanilla Yogurt Cream
In a small bowl, combine: vanilla yogurt, whipped topping or cream if using, vanilla extract, powdered sugar if using. Stir until smooth and creamy. The texture should feel silky and spreadable. Unlike heavier custards or cream cheese fillings, yogurt cream feels lighter and fresher, perfect for fruit tarts and warm weather desserts.
You will need small bowls, whisks, or hand mixers.
Step 3: Assemble the Tart
Spread the vanilla yogurt cream across the center of the pastry, keeping inside the scored border.
Do not overfill.
A modest layer works best and allows the pastry to bake evenly.
You will need to peel the mango using a peeler and cut around the pit using a mango knife. Slice the mango thinly around 1/4 inch thick. Arrange thin slices of fresh mango over the cream.
You can place them in rows, overlapping circles, or a simple rustic pattern.
One of the joys of fruit tarts is that they do not need perfection to be beautiful.
Step 4: Add the Mango Preserve Glaze
Warm the mango preserves slightly if needed.
Using a spoon or pastry brush, gently glaze the mango slices.
This step does more than add sweetness.Fruit glazes have long been used in pastry making to preserve moisture, add shine, protect delicate fruit, create a bakery-style finish.
The preserves transform the tart from homemade snack into something that looks almost patisserie-inspired.
Step 5: Bake
Bake at 400°F for 18–25 minutes or until pastry is puffed, edges are golden, cream is gently set, mango becomes lightly caramelized
Every oven behaves differently, so begin watching around the 18-minute mark.
The aroma is one of the best parts, buttery pastry mingled with vanilla and warm fruit.
Allow the tart to cool slightly before slicing.
Tips for Success
Use ripe mango
Sweet, fragrant mango gives the best flavor.
Avoid underripe fruit, which can taste firm and sour.
Do not overload the cream
Too much filling may soften the pastry excessively.
Bake on parchment or in a well greased pie dish.
This helps with cleanup and prevents sticking.
Serve slightly warm or cooled
Both are delicious.
Warm tart feels cozy and comforting.
Cooled tart feels refreshing and elegant.
Variations
One of the lovely things about this recipe is how adaptable it is.
Try peaches, strawberries, apricots, berries, figs
Different preserves can also change the personality of the tart, apricot preserves, peach preserves, raspberry preserves, honey glaze
This simple formula becomes a foundation for many seasonal creations.
