Welcoming 4 Newborn Kittens!

On the 13th of April, around 2 pm, our cat Pita had her first kitten. Over the course of 4 hours she had 3 more. It was a beautiful and amazing experience for us to be able to witness the birth of new cats into this world.

As you can see, there are two grey kittens and two black ones. The smallest grey kitten that was born last is the runt of the litter but looks just like the mama.

The kittens are born with closed eyes, but they are already very furry. The mom cat licks them clean after they are born and must nurse them every two hours, including overnight. The mom licks the kittens bottoms to stimulate them to go potty for the first few weeks of their life. It’s so tiring being a mother of four!

We have yet to determine the gender of the kittens since they are too small and when we pick them up the mother cat gets anxious and starts meowing for us to leave her babies alone. We will know the gender in a few weeks time.

We will keep you updated on all of the new developments and hope to find new homes for 3 of the kittens when they are about 2 months old. I want to keep one of them to keep Pita company because after she weans these babies we will get her spayed.
