We got a new rooster on the farm recently and I am so happy he is here!!!
His name is Kenny, named not by me but the people who raised him. He is the sweetest, most beautiful rooster I’ve ever had. He has a cream colored coat, speckled with black, tan, brown and greenish black. His tail shines green in the sunlight. He is absolutely gorgeous. This breed of chicken is known as the Dorking and it originates in Surrey, Southern England. He has that royalty look about him!
We bought him for $5 at the Hill Country Feed Supply Store.
The best part about this rooster is that he barely ever crows, and he is so gentle. He NEVER attacks me, he is nice to the hens, and to the other roosters.

As a matter of fact, I like Kenny so much I wish I could cull the other two roosters I have since they have some behavior problems that Kenny doesn’t have. I think my Barred Rock Rooster Maboi has learned some of these bad behaviors from my White Leghorn Rooster Flyler. Flyler is a real pain in the behind. He attacks me every morning, and I think he has definitely got to go!
